Primary Care Funding Call 2026/27

This new Primary Care Funding Call is designed to support GP practices and PCNs to improve referral quality, tackle inequalities, and deliver innovative cancer-focused projects. This funding opportunity offers two distinct streams for GP practices and Primary Care Networks:

1. PCN DES Support Funding (Up to £1,000 per practice)

Open to any GP practice or PCN looking to improve their PCN DES in the following areas:

  • Improve suspected cancer referral quality
  • Address inequalities in screening uptake

This funding is intended to support practical, local interventions that can make a measurable difference.

2. Early Diagnosis Priority Area Funding (between £5,000 and £30,000)

Open to any GP practice or PCN that wants to design and deliver a project focused on one or more of the following areas:

  • High areas of deprivation
  • Rare and less common cancers (Head & Neck - including brain, Teenage & Young Adult, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Blood, Pancreatic and Ovarian)
  • Bowel, lung or upper gastrointestinal (UGI) cancers
  • Outreach and partnership working (note: if this option is chosen, it will need to also focus on one of the other three areas)

Projects can apply for any funding amount between £5,000 and £30,000 aligned to the scope and impact of the proposed work.

Please note: the funding call has now closed as of August 3rd 2026. All applications are currently being reviewed.
